In the modern Dental World, managing decay no longer means to just have a filling, crown, root canal or extraction. Areas of decay can be managed by applying particular gels and liquids on teh tooth structure to help remineralise the tooth.
The Aim of a Decay Management Program
A Decay Management Program is aimed to prevent decay by assisting the structure of our teeth by altering the environment inside of our mouth. It is basically all about reducing bacteria through good oral hygiene, reviewing local and systemic factors that lead to decay such as medications, and dry mouth.
Your Decay Management Program will begin with a 30 minute analysis of the presenting conditions of your mouth. X-Rays will be made and a visual examination performed. Saliva Flow, Bacteria Testing will be performed. Toothbrushing, flossing and mouthwash use will be assessed. A Three-Four Day Diet Anaylsis will be issuedfor you to complete.
The Decay Management Results and Recommendations
Decay is not a neccessary part of life, and simple changes to lifestyle, diet and cleaning techniques can dramatically improve your mouth's exposure to decay. It is rpeventable.
