Signs of Dental health

Smile Artistry Dentists

The signs of Dental Health are not always obvious until Unhealthy Signs appear!

In a normal healthy mouth, teeth remain strong, intact and free of decay, gums remain healthy, and the teeth function and fit together to not cause any un-necessary damage. The teeth and smile should appear cosmetically pleasing.

To ensure this, our Dentists and Hygienists recommend six monthly dental check-up and dental cleaning appointments.  It is our experience that regular and thorough dental check-up and dental cleaning appointments result in less dental emergencies.

A sign that your teeth and gums are not healthy is sensitivity, heavily worn teeth, broken teeth, bleeding gums, tooth ache, missing fillings, crowded teeth, and receeding gums.

The First Appointments

New patients to Smile Artistry are first welcomed to visit for a Dental Consultation to meet and discuss your concerns with o Brisbane Dentists. New patients may also be advised by our reception staff to have a New Patient Dental Examination if they are wishing for a full Dental Check-up.

Our dentists will discuss the health of their mouth and check that everything is healthy. During your appointment our dentists will be able to discuss and recommend any treatments that may be suitable.

Following a New Patient Dental Check-up, you will be able to visit our Dental Hygienists for detailed teeth and gum cleaning before a routine 6-12 monthly dental check-up and dental cleaning program is recommended.

Teeth Whitening can whiten and brighten your smile in only 90 minutes. Most patients are suitable for teeth whitening, but existing fillings and crowns will not whiten. Contact us for your free teeth whitening consultation today.

White Fillings can alleviate sensitive teeth and cracked teeth by renewing those ugly old silver amalgam fillings.  Cosmetically-pleasing white dental fillings and porcelain crowns can rejuvenate your back teeth and make you chew comfortably again. Contact us to have a dental check-up to discuss replacing your old amalgam fillings.

Timing

By providing routine General Dental Care your day-to-day life will be much less impacted by teeth emergencies and discomfort.  You will experience less dental emergencies, and any decay or breaking fillings will be replaced before they become a major dental problem.

Today, modern dental local anaesthetics work very effectively, and last for only a few hours after your procedure, which means less recovery time than in the past.

FAQs

Health Fund Dental CostsWhat does my health fund cover?

Smile Artistry offers a high level of service and our fees and costs are customary for such a service.  Health Funds will partially cover you for six monthly cleaning and check-ups and dental care.  Smile Artistry participates with all major Australian Health Funds.  Smile Artistry has HICAPS health fund machines so that you can claim your health fund rebate instantly and pay for the gap only. If our Dentists recommend any further treatments we will print you a written quote with item codes so that you can check the amount your health fund will cover.

Why does a Porcelain Crown cost vary from Dentist to Dentist?

Dentistry at different dental practices is not the one standard.  This is notably because a Porcelain crown is not made by the Dentist, but rather by the Dental Laboratory.  While you can shop around and buy the one laptop for different prices from different shops and end up with the same product, dentistry is very different.  Dentistry is a service driven business and the price you pay for a Porcelain Crown will impact on the quality of workmanship provided by the Dentist, the quality of workmanship of the Dental Laboratory and the warranty offered.  As there are many different types of crowns, with ways of making crowns cheaper than others, this is the reason why there is often a difference in the price from one Dentist to another.
